Webs - Wire - Filaments - Yarn - Fibers - Etc. These small single roller tension sensors allow installation from a vertically oriented surface. There are three standard instrument bodies offered, with mounting flange variations to allow face or through-hole installation. You may also request the mounting flange placement to your requirement at no additional charge. Typical uses include closed loop tension control, data acquisition and digital tension indication. These small and versatile tension sensors can be ordered as single and three roller instruments. A variety of standard rollers and non-rotating ceramic contact elements are offered for use on textiles, yarns, fine wire, optical fiber, filaments, fiber, tapes, films and other narrow webs. Typical uses include closed loop tension control, data acquisition or simply as a tension readout. Sensor body can be captured from the rear or cantilevered from a backplane. These instruments can also be captured from the top or bottom with the two through holes provided. The small size allows a number of units to be closely stacked as shown in photo. These Multi-purpose 3-roller and single-roller tension sensors offer high performance and low profile installation. A variety of standard rollers make them adaptable to many applications. Some of their uses include wire, cable, filaments, fibers, yarn, tow and webs. Several standard faceplate widths from 5" - 8.5" are offered. There are three sets of tapped holes in the faceplates that allow the outside guide rollers to be moved up or down as needed to accommodate larger diameter materials and stiffer or more rigid materials. These Multi-purpose 3-roller and single roller sensors offer excellent resolution. When ordered with an optional analog output these sensors provide precise tension feedback for closed loop control. A variety of standard and custom rollers make them adaptable to many applications. Some of their uses include wire, cable, filaments, fiber, yarn, tow, tubing and narrow webs. Several standard faceplate widths from 6" - 10.5" are offered. There are two sets of tapped holes in the faceplates that allow the outside guide rollers to be moved up or down as needed to accommodate larger diameter materials and stiffer or more rigid materials. These single roller strain gaged transducers are designed to measure tension in narrow flat web materials such as paper, fabric, ribbon, plastic, film, rubber, labels, foil, tape, composites, fiberglass, etc. They offer the advantages of cantilever mounting with exceptional overload protection. The tension sensor is cantilevered from a vertical mounting wall and provided with a secondary overload arm and end plate for added 360 degree protection. Precise tension readings are taken no matter where the web rides along the roller's surface. Six standard roller assemblies are available or we offer to adapt your rollers where feasible. These
durable precision sensors are designed to operate with tension forces being either pushed
down toward the base or pulled away from the base. Each roller end is captured by a
sensor and the tension proportionate output from these sensors provides the average
tension readings across the web no matter where the web is positioned on the roller. These
models can also be ordered with a completely independent load cell at each end of
the roller for measuring variations in tension from one web edge to the other. When
retrofitting existing machinery, sensors are frequently installed in place of existing
rollers. Sensor installation in any orientation is possible when your material's
angles to either side of the sensing roller are approximately equal and the direction of
force aligned perpendicular to the mounting base. Ask for Bulletin WPM/S-01.
