HOW THE METER WORKS: The DynaTension Technology utilized in these meters, senses the fundamental frequency of vibration of a cable or other materials under load. A sensor automatically converts this frequency to an analog voltage. The computed tension is then displayed on a high contrast LCD display. With one keypad entry you can also program to read only the vibration frequency. The basic Model P1000 meter is fully portable, weighs only 5 pounds and does not require in-line installation.

Three Compact, Standard Sensor Options For Use With The Basic Model P1000
VARI-L #101 - Requires no physical contact; works only with metallic materials, best suited for harsh environments; works on rods or cables 1/4" or larger in diameter or on other large tension members such as chain. |
EOSENS #102 - Requires no physical contact; works with any material; best suited for sheltered environment; works on rods, cables, belts, wire, etc. The sensor must be kept free of condensation, build-up of grease, or other material that would block the optical path between the target and sensor. |
ACSENS # 103Attaches to member under tension; member may be any material. This sensor is well suited for harsh environments. Best suited for shorter or narrower spans and higher range tension applications in materials larger than 1/8" in diameter. |
SIMPLE TO USE - In four short steps you can take accurate tension measurements.
First, you will enter the weight per foot of your material through the keypad. Second, you enter the length (in inches) between two fixed points that your material contacts. Third, you hold one of the sensors shown above nominally 1/4' from you material. Fourth, tap your material under tension to set it vibrating. In just seconds the reading will stabilize and indicate tension accurately from less than 1% to more than 100% of your materials break strength.
This instrument is virtually maintenance free. There is no loss of calibration with use. Weather, dirt, shock, overload or cable lubricants do not effect the P1000.
CRANE
LOAD TENSION MEASUREMENT - Model M2000
DynaTension® M2000 is different! This unique technology
magnetically vibrates the cables, then measures their natural frequency while rejecting
extraneous mechanical vibration. It computes tension in the hoist line by applying the
"vibrating string equation" which defines the physical relationship between the
natural frequency, and the tension in flexible members. Other methods of measuring load or
tension depend on sensors that respond to mechanical changes in something connected to the
load carrying member rather than changes in the load carrying member itself. Hysteresis
and drift result from lack of repeatability in the relationship between what is being
measured and what is really happening in the tension member. DynaTension® does not
depend on a mechanical interface, but uses a non-contact sensor which faithfully
reproduces the frequency of the cable vibrations without measurable error. This system
offers a very cost effective solution to more safely and accurately measuring tension in
crane hoist lines. These systems are warranted to be free of defects in materials and
workmanship for a full two years. Call or E-Mail for more information about the Crane Load

MOORING TENSION MONITORING SYSTEM - MODEL ALM
400
DynaTension® MTMS systems monitor tension in mooring
cables or chains without physical contact with the line. No contact ensures maintenance
free operation of an inherently accurate load measuring system. No other method provides
the cost effectiveness, dependability and accuracy of DynaTension® MTMS.

DynaTension® alone provides the long term reliability and dependability long needed in the offshore drilling and production industry.
DynaTension® infers line tension from the frequency of vibration of a portion, or span, of the line. An electromagnetic exciter initiates and maintains vibration of each span. A variable inductance sensor produces an electrical analog of the vibration. Electronic circuitry in the control cabinet analyzes the signal, then computes and displays the corresponding line tension in real time.
The exciter and sensor are encapsulated in water impregnable, flame retarding epoxy. Because there is no physical contact with the cable or chain, there is no wear on the exciter/sensor. The sensor's signal output is volts in amplitude and because DynaTension® measures frequency rather than amplitude it is immune to electromagnetic interference. DynaTension works with all or partially submerged spans by applying a correction factor based on percent of span immersion.
